Brown County State Park Engagement Session | Janay + Cody | Nashville, IN Wedding Photographer
A Boho Brown County State Park Engagement Session
I had an absolute blast hanging out with Janay & Cody for their Brown County State Park engagement session this summer! Janay’s incredible laughter is a photographer’s dream and I just adored the boho vibes this session gives off. Their ability to connect so deeply with each other and even new friends (like me!) is so amazing that I just had to agree to photograph their wedding in the very place that means so much to them; Brown County!

“Cody and I “officially” met during a Fourth of July party that his parents were hosting. The first aspect of his personality that I just couldn’t ignore was how much attention he didn’t show me. I know that sounds odd, however, I was taken back by how respectful and uniquely true he was. Not once did Cody try to impress me, smother me, or even reciprocate when I was dancing ;) I fell in love with his ability to show his care through his humbleness and meekness. I had never come across a person that possessed such pure intentions along with undeniable selflessness. Cody and I had no intentions that night of looking for a relationship, however, after a night filled with music and fireworks that unexpectedly changed for the both of us.
What was it like in the beginning you ask? Honestly, I see no beginning because I truly feel no different than I did 8 years ago when we met. I never thought it was possible for those feelings to last until I met someone that never fails to surprise me. I can admit that in some ways I have got more comfortable about expressing myself to him because I learned that no matter how mad I get, or how unfair I act, he still refuses to judge me even when I deserve it. Cody still looks at me the exact same and it still gives me the same feeling of home like it always has.”
“I was drawn to the commonality that we shared. It was almost too good to be true. We believed, thought, and were compassionate about nearly all aspects of the way we lived our lives; but we both had our own special twist.
It was SOOOO good to have a person in my life that was on the same ethereal plane. Ok! Dramatic, but very true. At the beginning, when we started going on dates and talking nothing went wrong. I needed to have a connection that was of epic proportions because I would give that person my life… This to me is the reason of being together. I believe that in life you find only one. If you follow and believe in your faith you will eventually find that person. Love is an eternal presence and it was scary how fast I started to feel this in the beginning.”
… I turned back to face him he and he was kneeling on one knee with a little red wooden box. I was absolutely shocked! I’m serious when I say that I have never been more surprised in my life! Cody started to explain that he wanted to ask me to marry him in the spot that he did because it was the one place I have left that symbolizes my childhood; my grandparents cabin in Brown County. Of course, I told him teary-eyed and shaking that I have always said yes!
